I catch many glimpses of the future Ashley as I look at myself now. Here is what I have come up with.

As the future Ashley, I see the world in color. I see the beauty in the little moments with friends, or in the words of encouragement from my parents. I am keenly aware that the world does not revolve around me and I have a superpower of seeing if the people around me are hurting. I am confident in who I am in Christ and do not feel that I need to prove myself to anyone because I have found ultimate belonging in Christ. I have the potential to speak in front of the largest crowds, yet make each individual feel that they are loved.

A word that comes to my mind when I think of this person, is "voice". Not just my singing voice, but my ability to speak words of life and freedom into the lives of those that are chained to sin, shame, false identity, or the desire to be perfect.

The future Ashley is not concerned about being perfect, but being obedient. She has grace for herself and for others when we are shown to be human and mess up. Because it is in those moments that she recognizes her need for Christ the most. She recognizes that it is not her role to fix those around her, but her role to pray, to help, and to invest.

She is not moved by the negative emotional contagion of people that seek to destroy, but stands firm and knows that her identity is not about what everyone thinks about her. But she is moved by Christs sacrifice, his grace, and his love for his children.

Lastly, the future Ashley seeks to be a lifelong learner. She continually wants to learn more about her God, herself, and how to do ministry even better. She wants to be the best minister, wife, mom, friend, and daughter as she can be.
